Botanical name: Jagera pseudorhus Genus/Family: SAPINDACEAE Type: Tree Common Name: Foambark Origin: Australia
|
| Notes: The webmasters favourite tree. A beautiful, stand alone, specimen tree with a dome shaped crown of ferny foliage which often flushes apricot pink during growth spurts.Usually seen in Australia growing on the banks of creeks or streams. Easy to grow if conditions are not too harsh. Full sun and mild frost are tolerated but ample water and fertiliser make a dramatic difference to early growth and appearance. The bark contains a high concentration of saponin, a frothing compound, and was used by the Australian aborigines as a fish poison. Most parts of the tree will produce a foam if agitated in water. | |
